Approx&nbsp;A regal pair of gold bajuband, set with polki diamonds and rubies and decorated with vivid polychrome meenakari, reflecting the opulent jewellery traditions associated with Marwar and Malwa around the turn of the 20th century AD. The pair together weighs approximately 262 grams.&nbsp;Each armlet is centred by a rectangular plaque, mounted with polki diamonds and rubies in a structured, symmetrical arrangement. The principal polki diamond is framed by a radiating cluster of rubies and subsidiary polki stones, while additional polki diamonds articulate the perimeter, producing a dense gem-set surface against the high-karat gold ground. The use of polki, set in the traditional North Indian manner, lends a distinctive, softly reflective brilliance.&nbsp;The reverse of each armlet is richly enamelled in meenakari, executed in saturated reds, greens, blues and white. The decoration is organised around a central pigeon motif in white enamel, encircled by floral elements and scrolling foliage, a concealed refinement characteristic of courtly jewellery where the interior surfaces were finished with equal care. The bands are composed of multiple intertwined gold chains, forming a flexible armlet structure that broadens toward the central plaque. The chainwork terminates in floral elements which conceal the locking mechanism, a detail consistent with Malwa-style construction, combining security with ornamental continuity.A highly accomplished example of North Indian goldsmithing from circa 1900, this rare pair demonstrates a sophisticated integration of polki diamond setting, ruby ornamentation, enamelled decoration and complex chain construction. Pairs of this quality, completeness and preservation are infrequently encountered.
