Note:The god Athsho, also known as Athosho, is believed to originate from the Zoroastrian deity 'Atar,' the son of Ahura Mazda. Athsho represents holy fire, as indicated by the flames around his head and shoulders. He is associated with Aša-Vahišta, the personification of truth or righteousness, who appears as Ashaeixsho on Huvishka coins. Historically, Atar has been depicted as the figure for royal fires. In Iran, Athsho was considered a deity who judged souls in heaven, while in Western Mithraism, he was linked to Hephaistos. Symbols of Hephaistos, such as a blacksmith's hammer and tongs, were used to light the holy fire and became associated with Athsho. Pahlavi's commentary on the Atašnyayiš (Sacred Books of the East XXIII:360, note 6) highlights further connections between Athsho and Hephaistos, noting that like Hephaistos, Athsho is "bodily infirm but spiritually a warrior."
