Note: Poonamali or Punamali has often been identified with ‘Poonamallee or Poovirundhavalli, which is a suburb located about 13 miles from Chennai & has an old fort now in ruins. But it is also the name of the fortress at Tiruchirappalli & it is difficult to ascertain which of these two places these coins were struck at.
