Note: This coin, struck in 1775 AD, dates to a period when Gwalior came under the control of Rohilla Sardar Dundey Khan Shahjahanpuri. Following the Battle of Miranpur Katra, the territory was annexed by Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh. While the coin's issuance could be attributed to either of these two contenders, the presence of a Trishul as a mint mark suggests it is more likely an issue of Awadh.

It is also worth noting the possibility that Shahjahanpur, referenced in historical contexts, could be the present-day Shajapur in central Madhya Pradesh. Named in honour of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, who reportedly halted there in 1640, the original name was said to be Shahjahanpur, later shortened to Shajapur. During this time, the region was under Gwalior's control, and it is plausible that a mint operated there in 1775 under the Maratha's administration. This coin serves as a fascinating relic from a complex and contested chapter of Indian history.
