A payment seal in Red ink applied that reads &ldquo;PAID | 25 JUNE | 1836&rdquo;, and the dispatch postmark of oval shape &ldquo;PAID SHIP LETTER LONDON | (CROWN) | 25 JU 25 | 1836&rdquo; in Red ink was also applied. As per the &ldquo;MSS&rdquo; this letter was sent by per ship &ldquo;Mecca via Suez to Bombay Thence&rdquo; to the addressee &ldquo;James Pattle Esquire&rdquo;, Calcutta, Bengal. The cover bears round shaped seal in Red ink of &ldquo;G.P.O | DEC 9 | 1836&rdquo;, besides it another postmark in Black ink that reads as &ldquo;Inld Ptg 3 | ShipDO&nbsp; 3 | 1 AS 6&rdquo;, Giles type # CS9 postmark, one of the early pre-stamp marks from Calcutta, intact condition, Exceedingly Rare.
