Note: On the obverse, a distinct &#39;Kangha&#39; symbol is positioned between the Persian letters &#39;Guru and Bind of Gobind.&#39; The reverse features the Persian word &#39;Akal.&#39; In AD 1805 (VS1862), Ranjit Singh gained control of Amritsar. Historians suggest that he marked this triumph by incorporating the religious symbol of &#39;Kangha&#39; (Comb) onto his coins. This symbol holds significance as one of the five &#39;Ks&#39; or essentials in the Sikh Religion, as prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh, the founder of the Khalsa. It became a customary practice for Lahore Durbar to send the donation of the first minted coins of any new series to Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar.
