Accompanying him was Zakariya Khan, the Nawab of Punjab. Throughout their journey, the Persian convoy faced continuous harassment from Sikh guerrilla fighters. Upon reaching Sarhind before crossing the Sutlej River into Punjab, Nadir Shah halted his march. There, Zakariya Khan presented him with the promised tribute. It is believed that a rare coin was minted during this encampment, distinct from Nadir Shah's usual currency.
