Note:The Presentation rupees series began with the VS1906 coin, marking the end of Sikh rule in Lahore and the annexation of the Sikh empire by the British. Patiala, which had been using Gobindshahi rupees for presentation and Puja purposes, began striking these rupees in VS1906—a practice that continued even after the mint was closed for currency issues. Only a few hundred Gobindshahi Nazaranas were struck each year before the Dusshera festival for use in Puja and as gifts (Nazaranas) by the ruler of the Patiala State. Some coins were melted after being used in puja, while others were sent to the treasury and are now preserved in the Sheesh Mahal Museum at Patiala.<o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p>
